Privacy Policy
Last updated: August 21, 2026
1. Who we are
SousDey is an online platform that connects travelers with local people who offer personalized experiences. SousDey itself is only a platform — it is not a party to the relationship between a traveler and a local, and does not provide the experiences arranged through it. This Privacy Policy explains how SousDey collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our website and app (together, the "Platform").
2. Information we collect
We collect information you give us directly and information collected automatically as you use the Platform:
- Account information: your name, email address, and password when you register.
- Profile information: details you add as a traveler or local, such as your home city, languages, expertise, hourly rate, and photos.
- Booking information: the details of bookings you make or receive, including dates, times, and messages exchanged.
- Payment information: we process payments through trusted providers; we do not store your full card details on our servers.
- Usage information: device, browser, and interaction data such as the pages you view and how you use the Platform.
3. How we use your information
We use your information to:
- Operate the Platform — create accounts, show profiles, and process bookings and payments.
- Connect travelers with locals and enable messaging between them.
- Send booking confirmations, reminders, and support messages.
- Provide customer support and resolve disputes.
- Improve and secure the Platform, and prevent fraud or misuse.
- Comply with legal obligations where applicable.
4. Sharing your information
Because SousDey is a marketplace, some of your information is shared with other users so the experience can happen:
- Between travelers and locals: the details needed to arrange and complete a booking (such as names, contact details, and booking times).
- With payment providers: to process your transactions securely.
- With service providers: trusted tools that help us run the Platform, under appropriate confidentiality obligations.
- When required by law: to respond to valid legal requests or protect the rights, safety, or property of SousDey and our users.
We do not sell your personal information.
5. Your responsibilities to others
Since SousDey only connects people, you are responsible for how you handle information shared with you by another user. You agree not to misuse another user’s contact details, photos, or messages, and not to share them publicly without consent.
6. Platform role & personal responsibility
SousDey is only a way to connect people. We are not a party to the experiences arranged through the Platform, and we do not organize, supervise, or control what happens between a traveler and a local. We are not responsible for, and do not respond for, any abuse, violence, harassment, or physical harm that may occur during or because of an activity arranged through SousDey. Each person is responsible for their own safety, conduct, and decisions. By using the Platform, you accept that you are meeting and interacting with another person at your own risk, and that you — not SousDey — are responsible for yourself and for how you treat others. If you ever feel unsafe during an activity, contact local authorities immediately and report the user to us so we can review their access.
7. Data retention
We keep your information for as long as your account is active, and for a limited period afterward to meet legal, accounting, or reporting requirements. You can request deletion of your account at any time, and we will remove your information where we are not required to keep it.
8. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to object to certain uses. You can exercise these rights from your account settings or by contacting us through the Platform.
9. Security
We take reasonable measures to protect your information using industry-standard practices. However, no online platform can guarantee complete security. As a marketplace, we also rely on users to keep their own accounts safe — use a strong password and never share your login details.
10. Age requirements
Travelers of any age may discover and book experiences through SousDey. Travelers under 18 should use the Platform with the involvement of a parent or legal guardian, who is responsible for their booking and safety. Local guides, however, must be at least 18 years old to create a profile and offer experiences — we verify this through a date-of-birth field at registration. We do not knowingly allow anyone under 18 to act as a guide. If you believe a guide is under 18, please contact us and we will investigate and remove the profile.
11. Cookies
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep you logged in, remember your preferences, and understand how the Platform is used. You can control cookies through your browser settings, but disabling them may affect some features.
12. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. Your continued use of SousDey after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
13. Contact
If you have questions about this Privacy Policy or how we handle your information, please contact the SousDey team through the Contact Us page or the support channels provided in the app.
This Privacy Policy is provided for general informational purposes and does not constitute legal advice. If you have a specific legal concern, please consult a qualified professional.
